Feliks Zhukovski is only nine when his mother puts him on a train out of Poland to escape the advancing Nazis. Only when he is 61 does he attempt to find his mother and half brother. The disintegration of the USSR, a trip to the USA and the discovery of a letter cause Feliks to reassess his entire life and beliefs.
