by Sebastian Fitzek

This page turner reads like shooting the rapids: without his memories, Marc is as disoriented and overwhelmed as the reader, swept up in the torrent of new discoveries, constantly battered against the rocks of new interpretations. The author spikes this thriller with slivers of science fiction and misery memoir which catch and tear at you, and it is not until the final pages that you get to clamber on to more solid ground.

'What leads you to assume you're suffering from hallucinations,' Haberland rejoined.

Marc concentrated once more on the droplets on the pane. His reflection seemed to be dissolving.
