The tempestuous love affair that plays out between James and Katherine is in turns exquisite and painful. The presence of both the male and female perspective gave me a deeper understanding of the raw emotions experienced on both sides; lending, in turn, an intimacy to this beautifully crafted tale as it sensitively tackles the complexities of the human heart.


On Friday night he sent her a hopeful text - 'See you this weekend?' There was silence until Saturday morning, when this popped out of the ether - 'No honey sorry doing things this weekend.' He wondered what she was doing. ... He was very keen to know what she was doing. To know whether she was with Fraser, or with someone else, or on her own. Not knowing was what was hard.
