The Adult

by Joe Stretch

A coming of age novel, told in the first person by a twenty-year-old man who has not fulfilled his early promise. Related honestly, Jim's childhood and adolescence are both funny and sad. Family relationships are very well drawn. The expectations that having minor celebrity parents places on their offspring is movingly illustrated. Winner of the 2013 Somerset Maughan Prize
