At Ruby's

by Frank Delaney

This is a very slick thriller, full of psychological menace. Nicholas, a successful architect and connoisseur, has to protect his lovely but vulnerable young wife Claire from the threat of violent danger. But is he imagining it? Or do his enemies want him to think so? Read this book to find out where Ruby fits into all this.

Ruby's club had the fabulous lustre of the nineteen-thirties, all ersatz and flesh. Prewar Berlin, perhaps? Somewhere in Lebanon or Beverly Hills? She hung it sumptuously with black and white brocade, lit mysteriously in silver. In the foyer, a ruby as big as a fist sat behind thick glass in a chrome strongbox. Was it genuine? She swore it was.
