White Queen by Gwyneth Jones

White Queen

Gwyneth Jones

The year is 2038. A young cyberjournalist is on the trail of extraterrestrials and finds them totally different to his expectations. Parts of this book read like a good thriller, but I got bogged down in the politics and found it quite hard going. I think it really helps to be a fan of science fiction to get the most out of this read.

Extract
She had been following Johnny about for a long time, almost since the day he arrived. He still knew nothing about her. Johnny had two reasons for being in Africa. In the first place he might as well be here as anywhere. The other reason was too absurd to mention: but just for fun, it could be that he was on to something, a story; and something might involve this girl.
