The Cave

by Tim Krabbe

I enjoyed the unusual style this book. It should have been fairly predictable - Axel, the wicked boy, who exerts so much influence over his more studious friend. Yet somehow when they meet again as adults, the consequences are unexpected.

Axel had lied to him, tried to make money off him, would have let him go to prison.

He let you do things you didn't really want to do. The moment had come to think clearly about Axel. He was fascinating, irresistable but first and foremost, he was a bastard.
