A fictionalised story of the life of the famous poet, Rumi. Spiritual and thoughtful, I expected this to be hard going but it was an easy short read with an extraordinary account of the relationship between a poet and a mystic.

It was not just protection from his responsibilities that Jalal sought in his father, but protection against far greater forces. Kneeling beside his father on that day, watching the colour drain from his face he realised that without an interlocutor he would be face to face with God ....
