Where Were You Robert? by Hans Enzensberger

Where Were You Robert?

Hans Enzensberger

A fantastical ride of a book, filled with weird scenarios but still a great and entertaining read. The main character can make himself 'transport' through time and space into new worlds, but will he ever get home again?

But where is Robert? Everything goes dark before his eyes. He's going to slide off the stool - but no, Robert is agile, you have to give him that.

Robert isn't in the kitchen anymore. The TV set is still on, that's all, the ice in his glass of tea on the counter is slowly melting, and the kitchen clock says three minutes to nine, while the sky outside rapidly darkens and the first drops of the cloudburst patter against the window panes.
