London, that morning, was bleak and dirty, the colour of soot. There were mortals everywhere, walking in the same direction, like a greasy tide. Apollo walked against them, smacking into shoulders and briefcases, as they refused to get out of his way. If they knew who he was, wondered Apollo, knew that he alone was responsible for the sun that shone above their heads, would they even care? He doubted it. One thing about mortals that never changed was that they all believed themselves to be immortal. He quite liked that about them. It was so arrogant, so optimistic. Like himself, on a better day.
