This book is like a good malt whisky. It takes some time for you to feel the effect, and then it hits you. A meditation on life, the choices of life and what life just throws at you. It is worth the effort.


Then he heard the horses. Ghost horses in massed gallop. A frail, unearthly, echoing sound. Curious, he mounted a shallow flight of steps at the base of the office block and moved forward between the shuttered shops and the bereft shrubbery of a pedestrian patio. A surf of litter foamed around his ankles, then withdrew at the wind's discretion.
