Taking it to Heart

Marie Desplechin

A cool, clever and funny collection of short stories. Set in Paris they reflect the landscape of that city, as the heroines struggle with their relationships, are they asking too much, and, how much is too much? It's all very Carrie Bradshaw! If you're a fan of Sex and the City, I think that you'll enjoy these.

But it must be admitted that apart from these brotherly and sisterly character assassinations, our relations are fairly tenuous, even fraught, on occasion.

He's jealous of me and I'm envious of him. I used to complain about him regularly to my analyst until Wolfgang started visiting him as well, on the sly. Off you go then, why don't you, all mysterious and furtive, hurrying to secretly outshine me. Three times a week at set hours of the day. It took me less than a month to find out.
