The Missing File by D A Mishani

The Missing File

D A Mishani

On one level an excellent 'missing teenager' police procedural. On the next a subtle examination of how the most careful investigation can be skewed by obsessions or preconceptions by witnesses and police alike. And on the third? There are tantalising suggestions that the author may be intending to get further under the skin of 'typical' Israeli families. I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Extract
'And what do you do when you're not a policeman ?' she asked, and he said, 'I'm a policeman then too.'
It made her laugh.
'Even on weekends? Don't you have any hobbies? Like karate perhaps?'
'No, my hobby seems to be being a policeman.' ... 'I like to read crime novels and prove the detectives wrong.'
