He walked away quite smoothly carrying Tommy, and Sarah and I were for an instant alone in the buzz of the ward. Then she too leaned over and kissed me - a sisterly kiss - but as her hands touched my shoulders and moved away, they left prints on my skin I could feel for half an hour afterwards. Then she was gone.
