Hood by Emma Donoghue

Emma Donoghue

A book about death and grief in a long-term lesbian relationship. Don't be put off by the bereavement angle - although it makes for a 'difficult' read, ultimately this book is optimistic and there are touches of humour. It can be enjoyed regardless of sexuality but may appeal especially to gay women.

Then all these theatricals fell away and I was hit by a sense of loss so sharp that I doubled up under it and pressed my face into the duvet. If this was grief, it felt more like acute appendicitis than anything else in my experience.
