Paris Trance by Geoff Dyer

Paris Trance

Geoff Dyer

A love story set in Paris! With this almost cliched setting the reader can usually anticipate, once the expected difficulties and misunderstandings have been cleared up, a happy ending. Not in this novel. Expect grand passion combined with a hedonistic atmosphere of drugs and sex, shot through with a streak of bleakness and cruelty. A compelling read from start to finish.

He would always love watching her walk away, seeing her disappear into the Metro, around a corner or becoming lost in the crowd, her floaty walk. Even when, years later, they parted for the last time, he would be the one to watch her walk away.
