The Resurrection Club by Christopher Wallace

The Resurrection Club

Christopher Wallace

Cemeteries, body snatchers, magic and illusion, Edinburgh past and present. Stick with it through the first four apparently unconnected chapters and you'll be hooked. The satire gets a bit heavy handed at times but this is a new slant on an old theme which I really enjoyed.

Extract
There had to be a way? A second chamber. Human brain? A third chamber. He would create a third chamber in the machine. He would create the perfect living being to contain the wisdom of men. A heart, a brain, and then a soul. He would fill the third chamber with a soul. All he had to do was to find one.
