Billie Morgan by Joolz Denby

Billie Morgan

Joolz Denby

Billie is as hard as they come - or so she'd like you to believe. As you read the book you begin to wonder how she survived at all and discover what a remarkable character she really is. I found this really sad but never depressing - and with Billie there is always a glimmer of hope.

Extract
That's the trouble with life, isn't it? It's a one-way deal, you can't go back, you can't change stuff or undo what's been done. Jesus, if anyone knows that, I do. It's like people who try and live in the part of their life they loved the best forever. Ageing punks, old Goths - I still see middle-aged, black-leather-and-lycra-clad biker chicks dawdling round town, their straw-bleached shag perms topping faces no amount of Max Factor can make fresh and foxy again.
