Native Rites by David Hewson

Native Rites

David Hewson

Ancient rituals and evil goings on in a 'typical' English village. Very menacing and really gruesome in parts, but a great read.

The gigantic straw figure seemed to her a mile high ... it stood atop the bonfire, still intact ... there was a commotion in the crowd .... Someone jerked a can and petrol flew throught the night air. A wall of flame shot skywards, bit into the Burning Man's legs, raced across his vast, golden torso, sent rivers of fire through his head. Two deep, empty holes in the straw head. Alison looked into Burning Man's eyes. They looked back.
