The Ice Harvest by Scott Phillips

The Ice Harvest

Scott Phillips

'What you got your goddamn sign lit up for, then?' Charlie shouted kicking the door. The interior of the restaurant was fully illuminated. He felt like throwing a brick through the plate glass. He turned on his heel and on his first step away from the door felt his left foot sliding along the slick concrete step, then his right, and then his tailbone making the solid contact with the frozen sidewalk.
