Long John Silver: the true and eventful history of my life of liberty and adventure as a gentleman of fortune and enemy to mankind

Bjorn Larsson

Entertaining account of the life of Long John Silver, the anti-hero of Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island. I enjoyed the swashbuckling adventure but also the more serious reflections on what makes some people choose a life outside the law.

I tarried there till dusk, looking not after them but out to sea and the unbroken horizon. Despite everything, I longed to return to that life without restrictions, as I had lived it, to a life that had a morrow, to a life that seemed to have no end, no full stop, only at the very most a comma here and there, a little breathing space, and for the rest naught but action and excitement.
